Seedream 5 Pro: A More Deliberate Model for Final Images
Seedream 5 Pro is now available on Poly through OpenRouter. It is the quality-focused side of ByteDance's new image family: a model for the point where a visual direction has been chosen and the image needs a more deliberate final pass.
Pro accepts both text and image input, supports 1K and 2K output, and can incorporate up to 14 reference images. Those references make it useful for controlled edits, composite ideas, and projects where the result needs to belong to an existing visual language.
Where Pro Fits
Seedream 5 Pro is best used selectively. It returns one image per request, encouraging a more focused prompt and reference set than the batch-oriented Lite model.
Consider Pro for:
- Hero artwork and launch imagery
- Final campaign concepts
- Product visuals guided by several references
- Image edits where composition and details must stay coherent
- A polished final pass after broader visual exploration
Pricing and Resolution
OpenRouter currently lists standard output from $0.045 per image. High-resolution output is priced separately, and supplied reference images carry a small input charge. Pro supports 1K and 2K output.
That pricing is most sensible after the creative search has narrowed. Use a lower-cost model to explore if necessary, then spend the Pro request on a direction with a clear brief.
A Two-Stage Seedream Workflow
Seedream 5 Lite and Pro are complementary. Lite can produce a wider field of candidates; Pro can take the selected visual language into a more careful generation or edit.
Poly keeps both routes available in one workspace, making it easy to preserve the prompt, visual references, and creative reasoning as the job moves from exploration to delivery.
